Can i use the same generic I letters of reference for many different teaching job applications?
Ilive in Norhtern California and am applying for jobs in the public schools here, like para-educator and also a substitute teacher. They all ask for 2 to 3 letters of reference to apply. Do they expect me to get them specifically addressed to them? Or do they expect letters of reference, “to whom it may concern? I know it is probably better to have them directly addressed, but if I apply to 5 jobs, that is 10-15 letters!
Those of us who write many letters of recommendations for students usually write them on our computers. It is not difficult for us to change the addresses on the letters when a student wants us to supply him or her with more than one letter.. Specific letters are always the best. You should, however, not ask the same person to write five letters necessarily. Rather, you should choose three at most and, if you wish to apply to other schools, then have another person write letters for those applications.
